About Charlotte:

Charlotte is a freelance dance artist, writer, educator and project coordinator raised in Suffolk, and now based in Leeds. A NSCD graduate from the BPA and MA Contemporary Dance degrees, she toured internationally as a company dancer with the Danish Holstebro Dance Company and now performs across the UK for independent companies such as FRONTLINEdance, UNIT, Casson & Friends and Gary Clarke Company.

As an educator, Charlotte has delivered to a wide range of ages and abilities for Northern Ballet, Kala Sangam and DanceEast amongst others. With a particular interest in primary and early years dance, she is now an integral part of the Learning & Participation team at NSCD, coordinating CAT outreach, delivering youth and community provision on a weekly basis. She is also lead artist on NSCD’s partnership with OFSTED outstanding Hillcrest Academy, researching how to embed dance within the STEM curriculum and steering CPD for teaching staff.

Creatively, Charlotte has received professional commissions from the Danish Talent Academy, Assembly House Leeds and NSCD, but focuses her energy on her dance theatre company ACCA, who are resident artists at Slung Low. ACCA fuses physicality with comedy to navigate female identity and has been programmed across Yorkshire by Grassington International Festival, Ripon Theatre Festival and Yorkshire Dance. ACCA premiered their first full length show Occupational Hazard, funded by Arts Council England in December 2022. Over 2023 ACCA are collaborating with Vier D for a cultural bridge project between Leeds and Dortmund for Leeds 2023, and with award winning theatre company Barrel Organ.

In addition to her physical practices, Charlotte is a talented project coordinator and administrator and has leant her skills to support the work at The Dance Studio Leeds, FRONTLINEdance and the Skinner Releasing Network in addition to being a programmer and co director of artist led Pro Dance Leeds. Writing and editing her co- lovechild Artychoke Zine, an online magazine devoted to showcasing the arts as a means of and for resistance, forms the final part of her current projects and is published seasonally.
